PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Right Way Academy is a residential private school located in the rolling hills of Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The very location is tranquil, removed from the hustle and bustle of urban and suburban living. The 117 acre campus is, however, within easy driving of the cultural resources of Pittsburgh, PA and Morgantown, WV.

Right Way Academy provides the opportunity for young women and men, ages 14-22, to live and learn in a safe and secure environment. Your child will continue to formalize his/her education, enhance his/her physical well-being and recover from the detrimental effects of chemical dependency and other high risk disorders and behaviors.

Our campus is safe and secure, so your child can then focus his/her energies on positive life style changes. The Academy provides your child a 24 hour, 7 day-a-week, 365 day-a-year wireless technology environment that supports Right Way’s educational program and student activities. The Academy staff will work to unlock the your child’s potential through recovery from chemical dependency utilizing the twelve-step program and cognitive behavioral change strategies; educational opportunities providing both high school and college academics; motivation for the development of skill sets for building on responsibility, recognition, achievement and opportunities; and self discipline instilled through support programs that assist each child to choose and control thoughts, actions and emotions.

The Academy’s “life skills infusion” curriculum includes college and high school academics, life skills training, twelve-step programs, individual and group therapy, technology training, arts and numerous recreational activities. The Academy’s approach is long-term, realizing that most of these young adults have been in and out of other short-term treatment programs. The Academy staff recommends a twelve month / full academic calendar school year commitment from the student and family. From that point, an assessment of future needs will be determined with an option for continued success resulting in high school graduation and college enrollment. Unique to the Academy is the University Partnership Program. The University Partnership Program permits the motivated student to enroll in University course work leading to college credit accumulation and college acceptance.

Right Way Academy’s goal is to develop your child’s personal awareness leading to the development and implementation of community, family and academic objectives that lead to long-term success. Involved with this motivational approach are the elements of recognition, responsibility, achievement and opportunity. Recognition is gained and distributed through successful completion of program phases; responsibility is attained through the Academy’s family structure for learning and living; achievement is earned though the challenging academic/technology structure and opportunity is provided within the program through the five dimensions of the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and environmental challenges that produces the whole child.

Right Way Academy has developed a unique integration of the dimensions into a holistic program. This uniqueness incorporates a focus on self-conflict within an individual that confronts and resolves substance abuse, despair, anxiety, depression, lack of achievement and social acceptance. The Academy builds support systems for the individual in each of the five dimensions and utilizes a trained experienced staff to provide enriched experiential opportunities for the Right Way Academy student.
